About Stephen Filkin

Stephen Filkin was born in the Highlands of Scotland and educated in England.

After graduating from university with an honours degree in literature and history, he joined the police where he served in both uniform and CID roles and gained a Masters degree in Investigative Psychology.

When Stephen retired from policing he wrote a thriller entitled 'Crossing the Lines' which immediately attracted the attention of Wallace Publishing and was published in November 2025.

The story incorporates County Lines drug-dealing, a corrupt senior police detective, and a highly-skilled SAS protagonist named Thomas Dekker who is wrongfully accused of murder and ruthlessly sets about proving his innocence.

This led to the second book in the series entitled 'The Kill Chain', which encouraged Wallace to offer Stephen a multi-book contract, and will be published in 2026.

Stephen lives in the northwest of England with his wife, their 18-year-old son, and two black Labs.

SAS Trooper Thomas Dekker, in Liverpool for the funeral of his Regimental mentor, is arrested for the murder of a man he’s never met.

Faced with a lack of evidence, the police are forced to release him under investigation.

Dekker returns to his mentor’s home where kids from a local street gang try to steal the dead man’s motorcycle.

Shots are fired, a woman is killed.

For the second time in twelve hours, Dekker is questioned by police who believe the shootings are connected and that he is the common factor.

Using his specialist skillset, Dekker fights to clear his name. But with a corrupt police officer and a homicidal County Lines gang boss after him, he finds himself fighting alone against a dangerous and implacable enemy where only his training and relentless drive for justice will save him.
